A woman came up to me this morning and said, "Don't you think it's time for a new headshot?" She seemed to think I look older in person than I do in my publicity photos.
I've been thinking the same thing.
The pictures I use were taken in the fall of 2003, and I probably should get some new ones. (The photo at right was taken today.) Still, to hear it from someone else on my 53rd birthday was deflating, to say the least.
But then in a flash of defiant delight, I thought to myself: I like how I look, and despite the sting, I like hearing the truth.
I'm not sure I could have said that twenty years ago.
