I'm out of the country this week and too busy to blog at length, but I wanted to share a snippet from a letter I recently received from my husband's cousin Mary (pictured above in her hot tub last week) who, like me, is in her 50's. Last spring she was diagnosed with uterine cancer, which has now spread to other organs. Throughout the entire ordeal, she's somehow managed to remain upbeat, yet realistic.
Here's what she says: Don't put off any physical issues, get them checked, and don't put off any fun you'd like to have. You never know what lies ahead. This still seems surreal to me. I never in a million years dreamt that I'd get cancer.
Never put off life, because we are not promised tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI too am inspired by her strength. Thanks for sharing, Prill... we always need to be reminded what truly matters in life. God Bless, Mary.

Diane & Barbara-- Yes! I know it sounds hackneyed to say "enjoy the moment," but I for one could always use the reminder.
