As reported by Karen Crouse in today’s NYT SportsSaturday section (“Olympic Trials: Road to Beijing”), 41-year old Dara Torres qualified for her fifth Olympic Games yesterday. Asked to comment on her achievement, 11-time Olympic medalist Matt Biondi said, “When girls became women, when gentlemen graduated from college, it wasn’t explicitly stated, it was just an understanding there that you were to get on with your life.” Torres, he added, “has blown the roof off that line of thinking.”Note: The above photo was taken by Christinne Musch/Reuters.
